Currently I work at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF ) as the Head of the Meteorological Visualisation Section. This section oversees the developments of software packages used in the operational post-processing of forecast products and observation monitoring at ECMWF and many other meteorological organisations.
As part of my work I also do project management. I passed the PRINCE 2 Foundation exam in March 2012.
Extraction of wind information from single Doppler radar data
which covers VAD wind retrieval methods on Doppler radar data with the Met Office. For more information about my work please visit the project web page.
I want to thank the people and organisations that enabled me to do this work:
From 1995 until 1998, I studied technical Computer Science (technische Informatik) at the Berufsakademie Heidenheim. This was in co-operation with the Deutschen Forschungszentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen (Bavaria). I developed software to organise and visualise data, measured by the DLR Wolkenradar (or POLDIRAD) for better understanding of meteorological events. I finished my study with my Diplomarbeit entitled Visualisation of radar data with Java.
